It is noted that the romantic movies era which were a major part of bollywood is now changed. Our audiences demand something new and realistic everytime. A movie with serious issues run better than comedy and romance genre. But the film makers are just not able to fulfill this public demand quite easily with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) behind them.
After movies like Udta Punjab, Indu Sarkar and Lipstick Under My Burkha, it is now the turn of filmmaker Kushan Nandy’s ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’ with Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the lead star to face trouble with CBFC. They have claimed 48 unwarranted cuts to the film with a ‘A’ certification. At a press conference Nandy stated that he was prepared for a ‘A’ certificate but with 48 cuts there won’t be any movie left. According to him, coarse language is sometimes simply reflective of a time or place the narrative is set in.
Nandy and the producers have now moved the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal to appeal the cuts. The verdict is yet to come.
