Delnaaz Irani is very well known for her character in movies like Kal Ho Na Ho, Paying Guest, Pyaar Main Twist, Milenge Milenge and many more. From a crazy lover to a comedy queen, she has played all types of roles and has been making justice to the character all along. India girls like Sagarika Ghatge, Chitrashi Rawat, Seema Azmi, Vidya Malvade and award-winning actress Pritam Kagne.
She has played all kind of roles in her time of bollywood, however, she has never played a parsi character in any movie so far. She was seen in a TV series called ‘Batliwala House Number 43 where she played a parsi character, However, Monsoon Football will be her debut in Marathi Cinema and at the same time, it’ll be a debut in playing a parsi character in a Movie. When asked, Milind Ukey says that he always had this character in mind and at no circumstances would he change the details of the character and it was only Delnaaz that he was sure of to select to make justice to the character and it was a relief knowing Delnaaz was in for the same.
‘’This is definitely the first time that I’d play a Parsi character in a film because I did receive offers to play a parsi character earlier, but I always thought that ‘Parsi’s were portrayed as a caricature and as a fun element and not a real character. I’ve always wanted to do a real character and Monsoon Football is giving me the opportunity to play a real parsi and not be a caricature or be the comic element in the movie. I met Milind sir, I heard the story and I was instantly connected and felt how great the concept was because the thought behind the movie is very impressive. It sure will be challenging to play football, but we’re rehearsing and practicing every now and then to prepare for the character.’’ says Delnaaz Irani about monsoon football and working with Milind Ukey.
