Ranveer Singh ‘s intense preparation for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati involved isolating himself and cutting off from all social interactions.
The star who steps into the shoes of the ambitious and obsessive Sultan, Alauddin Khilji had to undergo an extremely challenging process to get into the headspace of his character , which was physically, emotionally and mentally draining.
Apart from moving into an apartment close to Mumbai’s Filmcity, Ranveer only interacted with director Sanjay Leela Bhansali, his assistant, personal trainer and key members of the crew. If that wasn’t all , the actor also read books on tyrants to understand the psyche of his character. He also worked out for over 3 hours every day to look bigger, meaner and tougher.
Ranveer Singh say’s, “I put myself under house arrest for almost a month preparing myself to play Alauddin Khilji. I don’t wish to reveal the exact details of my prep process as it is something that Is extremely personal. what I can say however is that The entire prep process has been one discovery, exploration and has been extremely rewarding and gratifying.”
