The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne is deemed as one of the largest Indian film festivals of the southern hemisphere. It shows over 60 Bollywood Films, indie films and short films in 20 different languages. And this year being the eighth season of the show, it started with the Australian premiere of the movie ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha. The movie is directed by Alankrita Srivastava and both she and Konkana Sen Sharma were present to light the ceremonial lamp.
Interestingly Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will be the first woman to hoist the Indian National Flag at Melbourne’s iconic pulse point, Federation Square. She will also be felicitated by the government at the Westpac IFFM Awards for her significant contribution to Global cinema. Isn’t it simply amazing. Great going Ash!
Meanwhile other bollywood celebrities known to be attending the festival are Malaika Arora, Karan Johar, Sushant Singh Rajput, Nitesh Tiwari, etc. Mitu Bhowmick is to be hosting the show and seemed quite exhiliarated about it.
Its great to know that movies like Lipstick Under My Burkha marks the standard of cinema in Bollywood. We hope to see the festival opened every year with such amazing movies
